Cellular Respiration
  • #Esswein
  • aerobic metabolism produces heat, in shock states the body cannot produce heat due to a switch to anaerobic metabolism
  • Cellular respiration is the process of oxidizing fuels to create adenosine triphosphate (ATP). This happens in many ways and in many places, but the most common is using glucose and oxygen in glycolosis, the citric acid cycle, and the kreb's cycle
    • It is not necessary to fully understand these cycles at the paramedic level, and if we're being honest I just don't want to deal with writing down and explaining all of the cycles properly
  • Aerobic Metabolism
    • Takes place in the presence of oxygen, everything works great, and heat is generated.
